2nd Line Support / Field Engineer.

Purpose of job
Will be responsible for the day to day support and maintenance of all clients networks, servers and PC’s over and above the PC support provided by the 1st line engineers. Will also be responsible for the full development cycle of clients and company projects where needed.
Main Duties
-
Dealing with escalated support jobs both onsite and by use of remote desktop tools
-
Support, installation and maintenance of servers, sever OS and server based services (including but not limited to AD inc group policies, sec policies etc, DHCP, DNS)
-
Support, installation and maintenance of networking kit, setup and support of VPN’s and multisite connectivity
-
Specifying and ordering parts as necessary
-
Support of our co-located servers, hosting support and ongoing development of web systems
-
Remote backup setup and support
-
Onsite workstation and peripherals installation
-
Problem solving issues over and above that dealt with by 1st line within the restrictions of SLA’s
-
Attending site appointments made by 1st line and also managing own appointments and diary
-
Taking on and suggesting projects (VoIP, company web presence, service marketing…)
-
providing training and assistance to users on systems
-
Filing of correspondence, record keeping etc, reporting to management
-
Creating and modifying user, technical and company documentation.
-
To learn new technologies where needed in order to fulfil our clients requirements.

Supporting and performing other roles within the organisation deemed necessary
Candidate MUST have the following experience:
-
Working in a small IT support environment servicing different industry models at a 2nd/3rd line level.
-
Experience with Plesk hosting platform, Windows 2003 / 2008 domain environments, DNS, DHCP, AD, Exchange, CISCO managed routers, switches and networking equipment.
Candidate MUST hold at least the following qualifications:

Certificate of Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)

Certificate of Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT)
-
Certificate of Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
-
Certificate of Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP)

The successful candidate will report to and will work closely with Mark Kindred, Director.

Netcom Technologies requires an IT Support Administrator / helpdesk operative with a strong IT background and a keen interest in technologies and computers to provide technical support to Netcom’s client base of SME’s. Also to perform general IT administration to the director, helpdesk and 2nd line.
You will have the following experience and technical skills:

You will be responsible for logging calls, providing fault diagnosis and correction, password resets, setting up new user accounts, booking onsite engineer visits, setting up workstations, maintaining and updating the internal and customer facing knowledge base and also generating and sending out IT related mail shots.
You will also be required to provide general administration duties including filing, diary management, quoting and procurement including raising purchase orders and purchase requests. The role will involve working closely with 2nd line support.
This role will be working within a fast paced and busy environment so you will have strong workload management and organisational skills and you must be able to work well as part of a small team.
